About the course
"Keeping Autistic Children Safe" is a practical, evidence-informed course designed to help parents and caregivers understand, prevent and respond to everyday safety risks faced by autistic children, including wandering, elopement and exposure to dangerous environments. Rather than relying on fear or one-size-fits-all advice, the course provides a clear, step-by-step approach to identifying individual risks, understanding why unsafe situations may occur and building personalised, layered safety strategies. Through short, accessible modules, real-world examples and downloadable worksheets, families will learn how to prioritise risks, strengthen protective measures, create an individual Child Safety Profile and prepare for emergencies. The key benefit is a practical, personalised safety plan that families can use immediately, helping them move from uncertainty and worry towards greater confidence, preparedness and peace of mind.
ND Training Hub
At the ND Training Hub, we believe every autistic child deserves to feel safe, understood and supported, and every parent and carer deserves access to clear, practical guidance to help protect their child. We know that keeping autistic children safe can present unique challenges, and that generic safety advice doesn't always reflect the realities families face. That's why we've listened to parent carers, explored their experiences and concerns, and reviewed research into the risks autistic children may face and the approaches that can help keep them safe. By combining real-life experiences with evidence-informed strategies, we've developed "Keeping Autistic Children Safe" — a practical, accessible course designed to give families the knowledge, tools and confidence to take action. Our aim is simple: to make reliable, research-informed safety guidance accessible to families, so they can feel more confident, better prepared and empowered to keep their children safe.

Great videos and informative with lots I could implement quickly. I feel more confident that our son is safer.
Hull, Est
The worksheets were great. Especially the One-Page Child Safety Profile which I really hope we will never have to use but I am also very glad that I now have.
Parent Carer, Surrey
Finally, people who get that we live on high alert all the time. There has been so much in the news recently about missing children and accidents. I feel better for having spent time looking at what we are doing to keep our baby girls safe.
